Brent Miller, CFA, President, Chief Operating Officer, and Director of Research
Brent Miller oversees Gradient’s research process and manages the analyst team, as well as business development and client relations functions. He has served Gradient in various roles since 2003, including building qualitative, quantitative, and software-based equity research products for Gradient’s institutional clients. Brent is a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder and earned undergraduate degrees in economics and political science and an MBA from Arizona State University’s WP Carey School of Business.
Dominic Finney, Chief Technical Editor and Senior Equity Incentive Analyst
Dominic Finney has been with Gradient since 2006. He specializes in executive-behavior analysis for both domestically and internationally based companies. Before joining the Gradient team, he was an assistant city editor at a newspaper in the Gannett chain.
Rachel Annis, Equity Analyst
Rachel Annis has been with Gradient since 2014. She focuses primarily on the technology and industrials sector with an emphasis on earnings quality issues. Before joining the Gradient team, she completed two internships with Boeing. Rachel received a BS degree in finance from the W. P. Carey School of Business and Barrett, the Honors College at Arizona State University. While attending Arizona State University, she went through an aggressive selection process to become a member of the Student Investment Management Fund, which actively manages the trading of a live portfolio of $750,000 that industry professionals donated to the school.
Ian Striplin, Equity Analyst
Ian Striplin joined Gradient in 2016. He has a diverse background, including government contracting and logistics/supply chain solutions. Previously, he served in the Marine Corps and was a part of two deployments as an infantryman. While working for the Department of State in support of its mission in Iraq, he achieved a BS in business management. Before joining the Gradient team, he attended ASU’s W.P. Carey School of Business, receiving his MBA with a concentration in finance. During this time, he was exposed to Gradient's brand of earnings quality analysis through presentations made by our team.
Bradley Cipriano, CPA, Equity Analyst
Bradley joined Gradient in June 2017 after previously working as a senior treasury analyst for Centuri Construction Group. He received his BS degree in accountancy from the W.A. Franke College of Business at Northern Arizona University. Bradley is a licensed CPA and is also pursuing the CFA charter.
Francisco Garcia, Equity Analyst
Francisco joined Gradient on March 2019 as a research analyst he was previously a mathematics educator. Francisco completed his B.S. in Mathematics & Statistics at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and M.S. in Financial Engineering from the Viterbi School of Engineering at The University of Southern California and is pursuing the CFA charter.
Sales and Marketing
President, Sabrient Systems, LLC (parent company of Gradient)
Scott Martindale has been on the firm’s leadership team since 2003, and focuses on company strategy, product development, institutional sales, business development, and client relations for both Sabrient and wholly-owned subsidiary Gradient Analytics. He also writes market commentaries, including the Sector Detector newsletter. He began his career as a structural design engineer with Chevron Corp, where he held various engineering, analyst, and management positions. Scott holds a Series 65 license and has BS and MS degrees in civil engineering from the University of Arizona, and an MBA from California State University-Hayward.
